We want you to know that we are diligently working to adjust our health and safety protocols in our emergency shelters, housing facilities, community residential facilities and in our offices, while still ensuring that people receive the services that they need. We are thankful to our team and all of those who are working each day to support those we serve.

During these uncertain times, we at Shelter Nova Scotia want to let you know that our emergency shelters, housing facilities and all other services remain open for those we serve.

Keeping the health and safety of our donors, guests, residents, clients, tenants, and employees as the priority and in line with changing health updates, we need to temporarily suspend the collection of donated items at our facilities. This includes our much needed Adopt-a-meal program.

This was not an easy decision. The loss of these valuable gifts impacts those we serve and our spending but we know it is the right thing to do for the health of the community. So how can you help when you cannot donate items?

Here is how: By making a financial donation. Consider donating the money you would have spent on a meal or coffee – in the notes section you can add information as to what you would like us to use your donation for.  Donating financially means you also receive a tax receipt.

As things are changing quickly and conversations are taking place with our team, we will be sharing more information on our COVID-19 protocols soon. Please stay tuned to our social media channels and website for updates.

Stay safe and know we are grateful for your support.
